About Me

My photo
Last year I turned the big 3.0 and got married - I thought that was my milestone year. As it turns out, 2009 quickly overshadowed 2008 when my husband and I found out we were pregnant. I'm going to be experiencing everything for the first time as a woman and an expectant mother which is why I'm calling this my year of firsts. I'm senior editor for Marie Claire South Africa.

Mix tape

Baby girl is kicking all the time now. Yesterday I played her the compilation I've been working on so I can play music for her in the womb. I wonder what she thought when she heard the mesmerising voice of Feist, the swooping vocals and instrumentals of Coldplay's Chris Martin, the haunting tones of Keane and music from Massive Attack that can cause spontaneous levitation... We listened to it at the same time - an ear phone in my ear and the other to my belly. (Yes - it's definitely a belly now). Some songs she kicked and then I thought - maybe I should put the volume down. It might be too loud in there. they say the placenta is an excellent sound carrier. Anyway, it's a work in progress and am busy updating constantly while listening to iTunes as I work.
