About Me

My photo
Last year I turned the big 3.0 and got married - I thought that was my milestone year. As it turns out, 2009 quickly overshadowed 2008 when my husband and I found out we were pregnant. I'm going to be experiencing everything for the first time as a woman and an expectant mother which is why I'm calling this my year of firsts. I'm senior editor for Marie Claire South Africa.

The three of us

It amazes me how LG has stayed in my belly so far... Whenever I sit or get up or change my sleeping position I can feel her - as if she's wedged in between my legs and threatening to pop out if I push. It's a strange feeling and I try to imagine how she must be positioned - her head locked there, her arms suspended along with her legs which have now gone back to kicking. And there I thought she didn't have much more space for that. The past few days she's been really active, pushing and kicking most especially when I'm in the bath. Yes baby, I'm also uncomfortable, I try to tell her. So you're free to come out whenever. Mommy just has two more features to edit and then she's home free! With you! And then with you, me and dad.

Hein will be taking a month off work - of course he'll be attending the odd meetings etc and checking mails but it'll be the three of us getting to know each other better.
Everyone keeps asking me if I'm getting nervous and I usually respond by saying I'm kakking myself but truthfully, I haven't given it serious thought. I probably will after my mind is off work and handing over. The woman who's taking over from me, Donna, is wonderful! So I'm at ease leaving everything in her hands.
Phew!
