About Me

My photo
Last year I turned the big 3.0 and got married - I thought that was my milestone year. As it turns out, 2009 quickly overshadowed 2008 when my husband and I found out we were pregnant. I'm going to be experiencing everything for the first time as a woman and an expectant mother which is why I'm calling this my year of firsts. I'm senior editor for Marie Claire South Africa.

Google is so clever

Look at the kind of things Google people come up with. It forms part of the optional google homepage. It's obvious that the employees' creative juices are constantly stimulated and they are motivated to work because of the office environment, work ethic and of course perks and benefits: free gourmet cafeterias, swimming spa, free doctors on site, R50 000 cash back if you buy a hybrid car, free laundry service, and my favourites - onsite childcare and R5 000 in cash for take-out food to ease your first four weeks of maternity leave.
What can I say? My priorities have changed. It happens.

  3. I know Karin! Morning sickness is no joke I tell you - especially when you don't know that it is - or in my case, don't want to know that it is. I wonder if it would have been any different if we had just taken a test... Nah! I still would have been 60% miserable in Ramsgate!
