About Me

My photo
Last year I turned the big 3.0 and got married - I thought that was my milestone year. As it turns out, 2009 quickly overshadowed 2008 when my husband and I found out we were pregnant. I'm going to be experiencing everything for the first time as a woman and an expectant mother which is why I'm calling this my year of firsts. I'm senior editor for Marie Claire South Africa.

Eating is overrated

Baby's weight is increasing by 500g every week. Isn't that scary! and there I thought I was almost home free! This morning I woke up with sore hips and shoulders - from the extra weight no doubt. and getting out of bed was a challenge. We slept with the heater on in our room and the last thing I wanted to do was take my clothes off, shower and get ready for the new day.

These days I've been finding eating normal food such a bore. If I could eat fruit, yoghurt, ice cream, sweeties and buns alone I would be such a happy camper. But of course it's not just about me. I have to get the nutrients in for baby in the form of veggies, meat, fish, chicken and all that other healthy stuff. My sister came to visit yesterday with a McFlurry! How overrated is that ice cream. It's packaged in this giant plastic container with an equally giant spoon promising wonderful contents but all it contains is soft serve ice cream and choc chips which tasted much like cooking chocolate. I'm not sure what Thonga was raving about but I'll never eat another McFlurry again. Give me a flat-bottomed soft served cone for R2.95 any day!

Something else I won't recommend: Australia! It's dead boring that movie.

  1. Hahaha, funny how reflex thought to say ARE YOU CRAZY? FOOD, OVERRATED? But then, after some thought...just about five seconds of it, I figured tis true. Food IS overrated. I don't know what happened exactly that suddenly the stuff became known to be more than it is really - a means to survival.
Anywho...think I'll get me some chicken licken now.
