About Me

My photo
Last year I turned the big 3.0 and got married - I thought that was my milestone year. As it turns out, 2009 quickly overshadowed 2008 when my husband and I found out we were pregnant. I'm going to be experiencing everything for the first time as a woman and an expectant mother which is why I'm calling this my year of firsts. I'm senior editor for Marie Claire South Africa.

To wash or not to wash

This picture gets me! I imagine my LG is sitting in my tummy like this - except head down. That nose and fist and bunched up knees...
She hasn't been kicking as much as she used to - she's at her most active at about 10ish in the morning - round the time I'm having morning tea and then quiet for the rest of the day. Early evening when I get home and have a bath, she starts to push - as if she's stretching - and you can see my belly protruding in odd shapes. No, I've never been able to decipher a foot or an elbow but I have felt her bum. She likes it when I squeeze her bum with both my hands - that's when she wiggles, slips away and pushes her bum out again.

Oh, this little girl of mine is so sweet.

* And now for my mini dilemma: I've read a few articles recently advising mums to pre-wash all their babies' clothes, blankets... before the big day, sans Sta Soft though. Is it really necessary? Mom, did you do that? I just can't be asked having already folded and packed away all her things. Mxim! Do I have to?

  1. I didn't wash anything. I'm lazy like that. Thandi

  2. I'm not going to wash anything either then - can you imagine?
