About Me

My photo
Last year I turned the big 3.0 and got married - I thought that was my milestone year. As it turns out, 2009 quickly overshadowed 2008 when my husband and I found out we were pregnant. I'm going to be experiencing everything for the first time as a woman and an expectant mother which is why I'm calling this my year of firsts. I'm senior editor for Marie Claire South Africa.

Eating out...

... has become a bit of a problem. No matter what I seem to eat at restaurants I come back with a bad case of the runs. Granted I've always had a sensitive tummy but yesterday and today's unpleasant cramps and close encounters with the loo are a direct result from Tuesday evening's night out.
It was a friend's 30th and he booked out Bella (one of my favourite lunch spots) in Sandton on Rivonia. It's a beautiful restaurant and the team who run it used to the duo who ran Fresh Catering so I know they're above board. I had a beautiful done fillet steak drizzled with bearnaise sauce served on a bed of asparagus and mash. Mmmm... later that night, the loo and I bonded.
A few weeks back, I had dinner at the new Cappello's in Greenside - spitting distance from our place. I'd eate there several times prior to the pregnancy with no episodes so... I decided on a spaghetti bolognaise (they didn't have linguine, which is my favourite) and later that night, and all weekend, I was ill - top and bottom!

Is it a combination of me being preggers and having a sensitive tummy or food poisoning from less than clean or badly refrigerated food? I mean, I've had sushi (no salmon or tuna of course) on two occasions without a problem so...
I refuse to not eat out - what else can I get excited about when it comes to going out at night?
