100 days

Just like Barack Obama, I'm also on 100-days. Except, I'm counting down my last 100 days and he's only just begun his term...

Nothing significant to say - just thought it was a mini milestone - probably soon to be forgotten no doubt.

How do I feel today: was very nibbly today and had a red lollipop (which ended too quickly), ate a bowl of oats for breakfast, a thin slice of leftover apple pie (which I had skipped at yesterday's office tea), drank 1l of water, didn't feel like talking to anyone so waited until everyone in the office had finished preparing their lunch and surreptitiously snuck in to kitchen reheat my slice of chicken and mushroom quiche (also leftover from tea)... otherwise... all in a day's work!

Downward descent

The books say this is the week baby starts to turn upside... No wonder I've been having dizzy spells! so much movement! When we saw her on the scan, the doctor said she already had her head bent forward. Nature is amazing isn't it! Like the baby knows she needs to start moving her body towards the exit. Bloody scary too!

If she had to come out now, doctor says she would survive but obviously it's not ideal! Plus her room isn't even ready yet! I should start thinking about finding a place where they do 3D or 4D scans. Can't wait to see what she looks like!

Hospital wars

We broke the news to our ObGyn today that we (read I) weren't happy with Parklane - the hospital he delivers at. And seeing as our only other option is Garden City Hospital in Mayfair West (err...no), I asked him how he felt about being on standby in case of an emergency and using a midwife... surprise surprise he wasn't keen at all. Besides the relationship begin already tenuous between doctors and midwives, of course he's going to say no because he's losing out on the guaranteed R6 000 he'll make from the delivery.

I suggested the Genesis Clinic which I need to make time to see what kind of facilities it has - especially in case of emergency. (Dr Blaauwhof mentioned that he lives down the road from there and has recently heard about the place).

I just want to feel comfortable with the hospital I'm going to give birth at and of course facilities are a huge consideration but if push comes to shove (pardon the pun) Dr Blaauwhoof will have to go! There are plenty more OBGyns where he came from...

Childhood

I'm not sure this is going to make any sense to people who aren't visual thinkers but for me this picture sums up exactly the kind of childhood I want my little one to have.
